JL Industries 1035 Cosmopolitan Recessed Fire Extinguisher Cabinet, Flat Trim Trim, Stainless Steel

The JL Industries 1035 is a Cosmopolitan series fully recessed fire extinguisher cabinet in stainless steel with flat trim trim, built around a 10-1/2" x 24" x 6" tub. The Cosmopolitan is the stainless steel cabinet in the architectural series. Trim and door are 304 stainless steel with a #4 satin finish; the tub is white powder coated cold rolled steel, and surface mount models have 304 stainless sides and back. Specifiers choose it for corridors, kitchens, laboratories and other areas where a cleanable, corrosion-resistant surface is required or where stainless hardware is already the standard. #6, #7 and #8 stainless finishes are available as options. Cosmopolitan shares the Ambassador and Academy tub sizes, trim projections, door styles and glazing choices, and is available with the Fire-FX2 option up to 2 hours.

Saf-T-Lok (SL-LC) is the standard lock for most locking cabinets: a theft-deterrent keyed cylinder lock used instead of a break glass lock lever, since breaking glass in a panic can injure people and create liability. The door appears locked and is, but a sharp pull breaks or bends a replaceable plastic cam and opens it. The cam is 1-5/8" x 1" x 3/32" and is replaced with a Phillips head screwdriver.

Glazing: Glazing 10 is 0.090" clear acrylic, the standard clear glazing. Glazing 15 is 1/8" bronze acrylic, for a tinted door. Glazing 16 is 1/8" gray acrylic, a neutral tint. Glazing 17 is 1/8" clear tempered glass. Glazing 18 is 1/4" clear safety glass, shown in the catalog as laminated safety. Panorama door style C uses 70 clear polycarbonate and 71 3/16" clear polycarbonate with Saf-T-Lok, while Panorama door styles P and Q use 3/16" acrylic in codes 40-53, covering black, red or white acrylic with white, black or red letters in vertical (40-43), horizontal (45-48) or ascending (50-53) orientation.

Pull / handle: Pull handles are 4" CTC in finishes matching the cabinet material, with a standard zinc pull (PUS) on most cabinets. The flush recessed pull (PRH, model suffix A) is a plastic cup-type handle, standard on all 4" trim cabinets and optional elsewhere; on a vertical duo door it moves the window to the right. The chrome lever handle (LH) is optional on cabinets without Saf-T-Lok.

Colored powder-coat finishes, magnetic catches, decorative bronze or brass pulls, Futura cast handles, wired glass and alarms are available on request — ask for a quote with your model number.

ADA Standards for protruding objects specify that objects projecting from walls with leading edges between 27" and 80" above the finished floor shall protrude no more than 4" into walkways. The ADA also states the cabinet handle cannot be mounted higher than 48" AFF where only a forward approach in a wheelchair is possible. Trimless, 3/8" flat, 2-1/4" and 1-1/2" square, 3" rolled and 4" rolled trims meet the 4" rule; 4-1/2" rolled and surface mount do not.
