What it is
JL Industries Saturn 15 (FK15C) is a 6 liter portable fire extinguisher charged with a low-pH potassium acetate solution and UL rated 2-A:K for Class A and K fires. It stands 19-1/4" tall and 9" wide over the hose and handle, on a 7" diameter cylinder, and ships at 22.75 lb. The cylinder is stainless steel, with a visual pressure gauge and pull pin. The operating temperature range is 40°F (4°C) to 120°F (49°C). A J-hook wall bracket ships with it as standard, and the Mark MB810C bracket is available separately. It is approved for cooking media fires, is described as a supplement to a pre-engineered system, and must not be allowed to freeze.
The JL Industries FK15C is the Saturn 15, a 6 liter portable fire extinguisher in JL's Saturn series, charged with a low-pH potassium acetate solution and UL rated 2-A:K for Class A and K fires. It is specified for commercial kitchens and restaurants, as a portable supplement to a pre-engineered suppression system. The solution discharges in a fine mist that gives range while preventing splashing, and creates a saponification foam blanket over burning cooking media. Its cooling properties absorb heat so the fire stays out.

- Standards: Conforms to CAN/ULC-S554 - ANSI/UL 8 and CAN/ULC-S508 - ANSI/UL 711. Meets the current NFPA 10 requirements for portable fire extinguishers and is tested and listed by UL.
- In the box: the extinguisher with a J-hook wall bracket as standard; the Mark MB810C mounting bracket is available separately at extra charge.
- Charging: Ships factory charged.
- Application limits: Wet chemical extinguishers are approved for fires involving cooking media. Do not subject them to conditions where they might freeze. The owner's manual directs that wet chemical extinguishers be discharged on kitchen grease fires until empty, to allow additional cooling and retard flash-back.
JL's catalog lists this extinguisher as compatible with the following cabinet tub sizes:
- 12" x 27" x 7-3/4" tub (2000 series); the catalog notes Saturn units must be mounted to the tub
- 16" x 32" x 7-3/4" tub (3000 series)
- 20" x 27" x 7-3/4" duo tub (4000 series, two extinguishers)
Sized to the cabinet tables in JL's fire protection catalog. JL's cabinet selection guide asks for at least 1" of clearance in height, width and depth over the extinguisher's own dimensions.
