What it is
JL Industries Sentinel 5 (FS05C) is a 5 lb portable fire extinguisher charged with liquid carbon dioxide under pressure and UL rated 5B:C for Class B and C fires. It stands 17-3/4" tall and 8-1/4" wide over the hose and handle, on a 5-1/4" diameter cylinder, and ships at 13.75 lb. The cylinder is lightweight high-pressure aluminum with a straight thread brass valve, with a visual pressure gauge and pull pin. The operating temperature range is -22°F (-30°C) to 120°F (49°C). A J-hook wall bracket ships with it as standard, and the Mark MB809C bracket is available separately. Carbon dioxide displaces oxygen, so JL says care should be exercised in confined areas.
The JL Industries FS05C is the Sentinel 5, a 5 lb portable fire extinguisher in JL's Sentinel series, charged with liquid carbon dioxide under pressure and UL rated 5B:C for Class B and C fires. It is specified for offices, classrooms, retail spaces and research facilities where an electrically non-conductive clean agent is wanted. The discharge changes into a gas and appears as a cloud of white snow, directed at the fire through a funnel-shaped horn. It is electrically non-conductive and leaves no residue.

- US Coast Guard: Approved. The owner's manual notes that USCG approval is valid only when the extinguisher is fitted with the approved marine-type bracket named on its nameplate.
- In the box: the extinguisher with a J-hook wall bracket as standard; the Mark MB809C mounting bracket is available separately at extra charge.
- Charging: Ships factory charged.
- Application limits: Carbon dioxide discharges as a gas with small particles of snow at extremely low temperatures and will displace oxygen, so care should be exercised in confined areas.

Sized to the cabinet tables in JL's fire protection catalog. JL's cabinet selection guide asks for at least 1" of clearance in height, width and depth over the extinguisher's own dimensions.
